Investment advisers

GET`https://api.sec-api.io/form-adv/brochures/{crd}`

List the disclosure brochures an investment adviser has filed in Part 2 of its Form ADV, by the firm CRD number. Part 2 is the narrative part of the form, in which the adviser describes its services, fees, and conflicts of interest in plain English. Each entry carries the brochure name, its version identifier, the submission date, and a direct link to the brochure PDF on the IAPD site.

## Authentication

Send the API key either as a header or as a query parameter. The header is preferred; the query parameter exists for cases where a header cannot be set, such as opening a URL directly in a browser.

Authorization: required header

The API key on its own. Do not prefix it with Bearer or any other word.

Example `Authorization: YOUR_API_KEY`

token: optional query parameter

The API key, appended to the URL. Use this only when a header is not possible.

## Path parameters

Supplied as part of the URL.

crd: required string, 1 to 10 digits, no other characters

CRD number of the adviser firm, assigned by FINRA and IARD. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney is 149777, Goldman Sachs is 361.

A JSON object. Nested attributes are collapsed; expand one to see its fields.

brochures: array of object

Every brochure the firm has on file in Part 2 of its Form ADV. Part 2 is the narrative part of the form, written in plain English, in which an adviser describes its services, fees, and conflicts of interest to clients. The array is empty when the firm has filed no brochure.

versionId: integer

Version identifier of the brochure, assigned by IAPD. A firm files a new version whenever it updates a brochure, and each version keeps its own identifier. The same value appears as the BRCHR_VRSN_ID query parameter in url.

name: string

Name the firm gave the brochure, in upper case. Large advisers file one brochure per advisory programme, so the name usually identifies the programme the brochure describes.

dateSubmitted: string

Date the firm submitted this version of the brochure, formatted YYYY-MM-DD.

Example `2026-03-30`

url: string

Direct link to the brochure PDF on the IAPD site. The link resolves to the exact version named in versionId, so it keeps working after the firm files a newer version.

## Status codes

|  |  |
| --- | --- |
| `200` | Success. The body holds brochures. A firm with no brochure on file returns an empty array, not an error. |
| `403` | The API key is missing, or it is not valid. |
| `404` | The CRD in the path is not valid. It has to be 1 to 10 digits, with no other characters. |
| `429` | Too many requests. Slow the request rate and retry. |
| `500` | Server error. Retry, and report it if it persists. |
