Commodity pricesMining demand follows copper and gold investment; Resource Industries margin 13.5% in Q3 2026 against 17.0% in Q1 2025.
Cat Financial credit and fundingFinancial Products debt $34.55bn; allowance for credit losses $332m (0.91%); past dues 1.31%.

How risk factors changed

  • Comparison: 10-K FY2025 filed 13 Feb 2026 acc 0000018230-26-000008 against 10-K FY2024 filed 14 Feb 2025 acc 0000018230-25-000008.
  • 26 of 27 risk factors are word for word identical to the FY2024 10-K apart from page numbers; the four group headings (Macroeconomic, Operational, Financial, Legal & Regulatory) are unchanged.
  • Tariffs are named 3 times in each year; the international trade policy factor (122 words) is unchanged although Caterpillar reported higher tariff costs in 2025 and expects about $2.2bn in 2026 (10-Q Q2 2026).
  • The one reference to data centers in each year concerns Caterpillar's own IT systems, and AI is not named in Item 1A in either year, while Power Generation sales for data center applications are the main growth driver cited in the 2026 earnings releases.
  • Neither 10-Q filed since the FY2025 10-K reports a material change; the 20 Feb 2026 Supreme Court ruling on IEEPA tariffs and the 2026 segment realignment appear in MD&A and an 8-K; Item 1A text is unchanged.
